Frequently suggested ideas for JAP

1. I wish JAP would automatically start when I start my browser.
2. I wish there was an option to start JAP without the splash screen... maybe it would start faster then.

Suggestions

I wish JAP would automatically start when I start my browser.

Unfortunately, this can't be implemented in Java (and JAP is developed in Java). But if you are a windows user, you can put JAP in the startup group so that it automatically starts with windows.

I wish there was an option to start JAP without the splash screen... maybe it would start faster then.

The splash screen is there for exactly the purpose of subjectively shortening the initialization time of JAP. The main window would not appear much faster without the splash screen and it's our experience, that users very quickly believe that a program has crashed, although it may actually be starting as quickly as possible in the background. We will perhaps reconsider our splash screen design. There will certainly be an option to deactivate it in the future.

I wish the anonymous access in JAP was activated as default.

This is taken into account in the current version. Please update your copy of JAP.

Ideas from Windows users

• JAP should minimize to the system tray.

Unfortunately, minimize to tray can't be implemented in Java (and JAP is developed in Java). But we have developed a version especially for Windows users because this function was so often requested. This should be possible as of version 00.02.004. However, the old version of JAP must be fully uninstalled and a new Windows installation must be carried out.

• The minimized JAP window should stay "always on top".

Unfortunately, always on top can't be implemented in Java (and JAP is developed in Java). But we have developed a version especially for windows users because this function was so often requested. This should be possible as of version 00.02.004. However, the old version of JAP must be fully uninstalled and a new windows installation must be carried out.

• JAP should start minimized.

If you right-click on the link to JAP, then choose "properties", the "run" option displays "Normal window". You can change this to "Minimized" so that Windows starts the program minimized.

I wish JAP worked without the GUI at the command line (for example to run on a router).

This is possible if you use the software from the mix instead of JAP. Instructions and download can be found on the developer pages.
